Softball Game Preview: Grissom Tigers vs. Falkville Blue Devils

The Grissom Tigers are taking a road trip to square off against the Falkville Blue Devils at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

It was a proper cat-fight when Grissom took on Brooks on Saturday. Grissom fell just short of Brooks by a score of 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Tigers have suffered since February 29, 2024.

Meanwhile, Falkville came up short against Good Hope on Saturday and fell 5-2. The Blue Devils have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Falkville saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hope McClanahan, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. Peyton Holloway also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Grissom's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-3. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Falkville, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.

Grissom took their win against Falkville in their previous meeting back in April of 2019 by a conclusive 10-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Grissom since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
