The Ann Sobrato Bulldogs will be playing at home against the Willow Glen Rams at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ann Sobrato is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10 runs per game this season.
Ann Sobrato came into this matchup off a tough eight-run loss on Wednesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Leland by a score of 6-4 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Bulldogs have suffered against the Chargers since April 21, 2017.
Amber Rodriguez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on ten hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Jordan Bouton made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 2-for-3. Julia Carlsen was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Willow Glen put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Westmont 15-5. The result was nothing new for the Rams, who have now won three games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Catalina Medina was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over 4.1 innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs while going 2-for-5.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sienna Wilson, who went 4-for-5 with six RBI, two stolen bases, and three runs. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Haley Ocumen, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.
Willow Glen kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matchups.
Willow Glen's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-0. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Ann Sobrato, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-2.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Ann Sobrato has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .451. However, it's not like Willow Glen struggles in that department as they've averaged .436. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
