Baseball Recap: Schalmont Finds Home Field Redemption Against Cobleskill-Richmondville

There's no place like home for Schalmont, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Cobleskill-Richmondville Bulldogs 6-5.

Cameron Daus made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out 11 batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Schalmont is undefeated when Daus allows two or fewer earned runs, but 0-4-1 otherwise. Daus was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Daus wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Luke Iovinella, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs Iovinella has posted since back in April of 2024. Logan Mulyca also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Schalmont's record now sits at 3-4-1. As for Cobleskill-Richmondville, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Schalmont will welcome Ichabod Crane at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Cobleskill-Richmondville, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville at 4:30 p.m.
