Baseball Recap: Meek Snaps Five-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Meek had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 16-run drubbing they dealt Falkville on Saturday. Meek blew past Falkville 18-2. The Tigers not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since March 8th.

Ethan Miles made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meek is 2-1 when Miles allowsone or fewer hits, but 5-9 otherwise. Miles was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Evan McCay, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Conner Lane, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI and one run.

Meek always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .613. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meek's victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-10. As for Falkville, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Meek will take on Addison at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Falkville, they will challenge Cold Springs at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
