Basketball Recap: St. Martin de Porres Takes a Loss

St. Martin de Porres was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 67-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Madison Blue Streaks. The Lions lost against the Blue Streaks in their previous head to head back in December of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 84-36 score last time.

Madison's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mac Steele, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 19 points and seven boards. Steele has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last nine times he's played. Another player making a difference was Landon Tomco, who went 6 for 13 to rack up 17 points.

St. Martin de Porres' defeat dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Madison, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 14-5.

Coming up, St. Martin de Porres will be playing in front of their home fans against Reimer Road Baptist Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Madison, they will venture away from home to face off against Berkshire at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Madison is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.7 points per game this season.
