For the first time this season, DeSoto Central will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will be playing at home against the Lewisburg Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. DeSoto Central knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 31 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully Lewisburg likes a good challenge.
On Friday, DeSoto Central didn't have too much trouble with Germantown as they won 44-28.

DeSoto Central relied on the efforts of Eric Perry, who rushed for 248 yards and four touchdowns on only 12 carries, and Cade Rodgers, who rushed for 221 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 7.6 yards per carry. With that strong performance, Perry is now averaging an impressive 118 rushing yards per game.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: DeSoto Central was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 469 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 191 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.
DeSoto Central didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Caleb Rucker and Demaury Bishop. DeSoto Central got some further help from Kalen Higgs: he picked up two sacks and made five total tackles (3.0 for loss).
Meanwhile, Lewisburg played a tough contest last Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against Center Hill, falling 42-17. The matchup marked the Patriots' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
DeSoto Central's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 49.7 points over those games. As for Lewisburg, they now have a losing record of 2-3.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's contest: DeSoto Central has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 436 total yards per game. It's a different story for Lewisburg, though, as they've been averaging only 229.4 total yards. Will DeSoto Central be able to march up the field at their leisure again, or will the Patriots flip the script?
Everything came up roses for DeSoto Central against Lewisburg in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, as the team secured a 42-7 win. Do the Jaguars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Patriots turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
