The Central Kitsap Cougars will head out to face off against the Gig Harbor Tides at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Central Kitsap will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
Central Kitsap proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by 14) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Olympic, sneaking past 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Cougars have posted since May 13, 2025.
Meanwhile, Gig Harbor never let their opponents score on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Mount Tahoma as they made off with a 15-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Tides, who have now won seven matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.
Daniel Sleeter was a major factor no matter where he played. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Sleeter was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Gig Harbor's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 6-7 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, Hudson Smith and Hunter Payne did most of the damage at the plate: Smith went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while Payne got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases Payne has posted since back in March of 2025. Sawyer Payne was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
Gig Harbor hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in five consecutive contests.
Central Kitsap's record now sits at 9-5. As for Gig Harbor, their record is now 9-7.
Central Kitsap came out on top in a nail-biter against Gig Harbor in their previous matchup back in April of 2025, sneaking past 2-0. Do the Cougars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tides turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
