Softball Recap: Five Straight Home Wins for Valley View

Valley View had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Liberty Bison with a sharp 12-4 win. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won 11 contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Maddie Barrios and Miranda Maese did most of the damage at the plate: Barrios went 3-for-4 with one home run, seven RBI, and three runs, while Maese fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 3-for-4. What's more, Barrios posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in March. Alyssa Torres was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Valley View hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in nine consecutive matches.

Valley View's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Liberty, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-8.

Coming up, Valley View will challenge Hemet at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Liberty, they will take on Paloma Valley at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. The Bison's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season.
