Volleyball Recap: Raton Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Raton can now relate to. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the McCurdy Bobcats on Friday.

Despite the defeat, Raton saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Aveah Marquez had 31 digs and one assist. Marquez is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last 18 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Leticia Marquez, who had ten digs and one assist.

Raton's loss dropped their record down to 21-5. As for McCurdy, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-7 record this season.

Raton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for McCurdy, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-1 defeat against Mesilla Valley Christian School on the 14th.
