Soccer Game Preview: Kennedy vs. Huntington Park

The Kennedy Cougars will square off against the Huntington Park Spartans at 11:15 a.m. on Saturday. Kennedy's last three matchups have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Kennedy is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. Their defense stepped up to hand Reseda a 1-0 shutout. The Cougars' winning goal came courtesy of Miguel Arias.

Kennedy was without their leading scorer, Lucas Esquivias, in Thursday's contest. With Esquivias sidelined, David Espinoza got his first action of the season. Espinoza made the most of the opportunity, putting up one assist A few more games like that and he might be seeing even more time going forward.

Meanwhile, Huntington Park had already won four in a row and they went ahead and made it five on Thursday. They came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 2-0. The Spartans' defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last three games.

Kennedy's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-13. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those three matches. As for Huntington Park, their victory bumped their record up to 8-9.
