After a string of 11 wins, Hillcrest's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell just short of the Greenville Red Raiders by a score of 3-2. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Rams of the 3-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

Hillcrest actually scored more points across those five sets (111-109), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The final score came out to 19-25, 27-25, 22-25, 26-24, 15-12.

Tamera Anderson paced Hillcrest's offense, picking up 18 kills. Anderson got some help from Liz Jones and her 48 assists.

Hillcrest's loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 13-3. As for Greenville, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 13-4.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Hillcrest will face off against rival Woodmont at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Greenville is set to take on their familiar foe T.L. Hanna at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
