Basketball Recap: York Cougars vs. South Pointe Stallions
York was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 13th straight defeat. They took a 76-61 bruising from the South Pointe Stallions. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 241st, while the Stallions are ranked 43rd).
Loss or not, York got some senior leadership from Christian Smith and Jaedon Meadors. Smith went 5 for 6 on his way to 13 points, while Meadors posted 12 points. Another player making a difference was James Love, who put up eight points and five boards.

Even though they lost, York was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive games.
Treven Raymon was his usual excellent self, shooting 4-for-5 from deep and dropping a double-double on 35 points and 11 rebounds for South Pointe. The dominant performance gave Raymon a new career-high in points. Ry'Darius Hill was another key player, going 8 of 14 en route to 19 points in addition to eight boards and three steals.
York's defeat dropped their record down to 1-15. As for South Pointe, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.
York didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 57-56 victory against Camden on the 14th. As for South Pointe, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 59-50 loss against Lancaster on the 14th.
