Morgantown (W. Va.) stayed undefeated in conference play with a 35-14 victory over
University (Morgantown, W. Va.) on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by
Jalen Thomas in the first quarter, the Mohigans led 14-7 at the half.
Morgantown expanded its lead to 14 points entering the fourth quarter. MHS's lone score in the quarter came on a
Alex Weidman touchdown run.
Thomas stood out for the Mohigans in the win. The senior running back ran for two touchdowns. He has now scored six touchdowns on the season.
The Hawks came in allowing just 8.6 points per game this season. University struggled against Morgantown's offense, which entered the game scoring 35.0 points per game. MHS entered the contest giving up 23.1 points per game this year.
Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 49-27 win for the Mohigans.
The defeat comes as a step back for University, which notched a 59-0 victory over Preston in its previous outing. The loss snapped UHS's 2-game winning streak.
Morgantown (7-2) will play a Ohio Valley AAAAA game against Brooke next week. The Bruins go into the week with a record of 2-6.
