Basketball Recap: Jackson Falls Despite Big Games from Angel Powell and Madison Sims

Jackson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They received a blow as they fell 59-44 to the Spain Park Jaguars.

Jackson's loss came despite strong showings from Madison Sims and Angel Powell. Sims dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 boards, while Powell went 6 of 12 on her way to 15 points and five boards. Those 12 rebounds gave Sims a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jessica Moye, who went 5 of 7 on her way to 8 points.

Jackson now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Spain Park, they moved to 7-9 with that win, which also ended their five-game losing streak.

Jackson will take on Hillcrest in a holiday battle at at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Spain Park, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Pelham at 6:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
