Softball Recap: Lancaster Catholic Picks Up Seventh Straight Win on the Road

After only two runs in their last contest, Lancaster Catholic made sure to put some runs up on the board against Columbia on Monday. The Crusaders blew past the Crimson Tide 23-0. The Crusaders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matches by six runs or more this season.

Kailee Detz made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Detz was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with four RBI and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Gabby Bigler was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and four RBI. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Caitlyn McCoach, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Lancaster Catholic pushed their record up to 16-3 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for Columbia, they are on a 14-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-12.

Looking ahead, Lancaster Catholic will take on Trinity at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Columbia, they will challenge Lebanon at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday.
