Preview: Hillsboro Eagles vs. Glen Rose Tigers

Hillsboro is 0-9 against Glen Rose since October of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Hillsboro Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Glen Rose Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Thursday, Hillsboro beat Ferris 28-21. That's two games straight that Hillsboro has won by exactly seven points.

Hillsboro got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Moses Rangel out in front who threw for 158 yards and four touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Darrian Hodge, who picked up 67 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Glen Rose fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They strolled past Godley with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 36-22.

Glen Rose's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Canyon Evans, who threw for 214 yards and four touchdowns. Evans is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last four games he's played. Josiah Groeneweg was another key contributor, picking up 88 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Glen Rose's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. Leading the way was Keltyn Raymond and his 2.5 sacks.

Hillsboro now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Glen Rose, their victory on Friday bumped their record up to 3-4.

Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday' match: Hillsboro has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 218.9 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Glen Rose, though, as they've been averaging only 72.6 per game. How will Glen Rose fare against such a dominant running game?

Hillsboro was taken down by Glen Rose 63-13 when the teams last played back in October of 2022. Thankfully for Hillsboro, Hudson White (who threw for 264 yards and four touchdowns on only 17 passes, and also rushed for 83 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
