Softball Game Preview: Manor Mustangs vs. Nansemond River Warriors

The Manor Mustangs will venture away from home to take on the Nansemond River Warriors at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Manor has given up an average of 11.6 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Manor is headed into Wednesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Tuesday. They lost 15-5 to Maury.

Manor saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ciah Leinart, who scored two runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-3. Leinart is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Naula Ramsey also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Nansemond River unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They came up short against Deep Creek, falling 11-4.

Bailey Hare made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Demetria Burton, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-4.

Manor's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5-1. As for Nansemond River, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.

Nansemond River's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Manor has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .471. It's a different story for Nansemond River, though, as they've only averaged .349. Will they be able to contain Manor's hitters?

Manor might still be hurting after the 16-1 defeat they got from Nansemond River in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
