Soccer Game Preview: Rocky River vs. Buckeye

The Rocky River Pirates will head out to challenge the Buckeye Bucks at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Buckeye took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Rocky River, who comes in off a win.

Rocky River can't be too worried about heading out to take on Buckeye: they just beat Chagrin Falls at home, who had been dominant on their own pitch up to that point. The Pirates came out on top against the Tigers by a score of 5-3 on Monday. Considering Rocky River's offense had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Meanwhile, Buckeye was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against Walsh Jesuit, falling 4-0. While losing is never fun, Buckeye can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio soccer rankings (they are ranked 374th, while Walsh Jesuit are ranked 41st).

Rocky River's victory ended a four-match drought on the road and puts them at 7-5-1. As for Buckeye, their loss dropped their record down to 2-10-2.

Everything went Rocky River's way against Buckeye in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as Rocky River made off with a 4-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pirates since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
