Softball Game Preview: Foresthill Wildfires vs. Valley Christian Lions

The Foresthill Wildfires will square off against the Valley Christian Lions at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Foresthill is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They blew past Esparto 16-6. The result was nothing new for the Wildfires, who have now won five contests by ten runs or more so far this season.

Foresthill got a massive performance out of Brianna Miller, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs Miller has posted since back in March. Rose Mellady was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Foresthill always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .718. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Valley Christian hadn't beaten Leroy Greene Academy on the road since March 23, 2018 but that history sure didn't bother them on Tuesday. Valley Christian was the clear victor by a 19-3 margin over Leroy Greene Academy. The matchup marked Valley Christian's most dominant victory of the season.

Foresthill has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for Valley Christian, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-7.

Foresthill beat Valley Christian 18-13 in their previous meeting back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildfires since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
