Recap: Campo Verde Coyotes vs. Casteel Colts

Even though the Campo Verde Coyotes have not done well against the Casteel Colts recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Campo Verde managed a 48-42 win over Casteel. The win was familiar territory for Campo Verde who now have five in a row.

Campo Verde got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kelsey Watts out in front who scored 25 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Watts has scored at least a third of Campo Verde's points. Another player making a difference was Madison Coger, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and six steals.

Casteel's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jackie Rosado, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds. Rosado is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 17 or more in the last three games she's played. Ava Lewis was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with six rebounds and two steals.

Casteel struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Campo Verde has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season. As for Casteel, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 18-9.

Campo Verde won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Highland at 7:00 p.m. on February 6th. Hopefully Highland focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 last Friday. Casteel does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
