Softball Recap: Mason Classical Academy Paladins vs. Neumann Celtics
Sadly, Mason Classical Academy is still looking for their first win of the season after seven contests. They fell victim to a tough 18-3 loss at the hands of the Neumann Celtics on Thursday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Mason Classical Academy of the 13-3 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February.
For Neumann's part, Sophia Escobar was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs but no hits. Escobar has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive pitching appearances. Escobar was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Neumann got a massive performance out of Hannah Ramundo, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Elle Moran, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-4.
Mason Classical Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Neumann, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-7.
