Baseball Recap: Beechwood Wins Going Away Against Holmes

Beechwood never let their opponents score on Monday. Everything went their way against the Holmes Bulldogs as they made off with a 15-0 victory. Considering the Tigers have won four contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Lucas Cousineau looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kegan Hutton, who scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brooks Becker, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

The win made it two in a row for Beechwood and bumps their season record up to 7-4. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 runs in those games. As for Holmes, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

Holmes has already played their next game (against St. Henry), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Beechwood will be paying especially close attention to the Bulldogs' matchup: after the Bulldogs faces off against the Crusaders, they'll take on Beechwood again at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
