Baseball Recap: Apopka Drops Highest Score of Season Against Cypress Creek

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Apopka). Everything went their way against the Cypress Creek Bears on Friday as the Apopka Blue Darters made off with an 11-4 victory. The Blue Darters haven't had any issues with the Bears recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Apopka got a great performance from Camron Pennock as he struck out ten batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk).

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Aiden Rieli, who got on base in five of his six plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Apopka's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-3 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Jonathan (JD) Edge, who scored three runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Apopka always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .565. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.

Apopka's victory bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Cypress Creek, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.

The future could be bright for both Apopka and Cypress Creek: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently.
