Softball Recap: Swain County Finds Playoff Glory Versus Mountain Heritage

It's playoff time, and Swain County had no trouble coming through when it counted. They came out on top against the Mountain Heritage Cougars by a score of 6-2 on Tuesday. The victory was nothing new for the Maroon Devils as they're now sitting on four straight.

Rylee Rawls was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.

Rawls wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Hadley Shuler, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Carley Teesateskie was another, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Swain County's win bumped their record up to 16-5. As for Mountain Heritage, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-11.

Looking ahead, Swain County will square off against Cherryville on Friday. The Maroon Devils are facing the Ironmen at the right time seeing as the Ironmen are stuck on a four-game losing streak. Mountain Heritage does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
