Soccer Game Preview: Sussex Academy vs. Polytech

The Sussex Academy Seahawks will venture away from home to face off against the Polytech Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sussex Academy's defense has only allowed 0.2 goals per game this season, so Polytech's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Sussex Academy is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Delaware's top teams: Cape Henlopen, who was ranked ninth at the time (Sussex Academy was ranked fourth). The Seahawks' defense stepped up to hand the Vikings a 2-0 shutout on Saturday. Sussex Academy haven't had any issues with Cape Henlopen recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, Polytech had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.5 goals) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. Everything went their way against the Ducks as they made off with a 4-0 win. Polytech might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by four goals or more this season.

Polytech's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Sussex Academy, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.

Everything went Sussex Academy's way against Polytech in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Sussex Academy made off with a 4-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Seahawks since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
