Volleyball Preview: Conard Red Wolves vs. Southington Blue Knights
Conard and Southington are an even 5-5 against one another since September of 2019, but not for long. The Conard Red Wolves will welcome the Southington Blue Knights at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Thursday, Conard sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over Avon.
Conard wouldn't go down easily and took Avon into a fifth set where they got it done with a nine-point win. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-0, 24-26, 15-25, 15-6.
Meanwhile, Southington entered their tilt with Hall on Thursday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Everything went their way against the Titans as they made off with a 3-0 victory.
The final score came out to 25-13, 25-21, 25-15.
Southington can attribute much of their success to Paige Raines, who had seven aces and three digs, and Sophie Janiszewska, who had three digs and two aces. Those seven aces gave Raines a new career-high.
Conard's win bumped their record up to 6-8. As for Southington, their victory was their 18th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-1.
