Soccer Game Preview: Monroe Catholic vs. West Valley

Monroe Catholic is 0-7 against West Valley since April of 2016 but things could change on Saturday. The Rams will host the Wolf Pack at 12:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Monroe Catholic will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any goals last Wednesday, then bounced right back against Hutchison on Tuesday. The Rams blew past the Hawks 10-1. Monroe Catholic have beaten Hutchison the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest Hutchison has come to flipping the script.

Meanwhile, West Valley faced North Pole in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Wolf Pack's defense stepped up to hand the Patriots a 5-0 shutout. West Valley might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by three goals or more this season.

They hit North Pole with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Django Gianakopoulos (2), Quinn Willis, Cole Stumpf, and Koen Aitken.

West Valley's victory bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Monroe Catholic, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Monroe Catholic suffered a grim 7-0 defeat to West Valley when the teams last played back in April of 2025. Can the Rams avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
