Softball Game Preview: Wayne City Indians vs. Zeigler-Royalton Tornadoes

The Wayne City Indians will challenge the Zeigler-Royalton Tornadoes at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Wayne City's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three games.

Wayne City lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Webber, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Thursday's contest. The Indians blew past the Trojans 11-3 on Thursday. The Indians not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 25, 2024 (when they won 19-0).

Hamilton County hit Zeigler-Royalton with a five-run seventh inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Tornadoes came up short against the Foxes, falling 16-4.

Caitlyn DeWeerdt made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Brylee Martin, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

Zeigler-Royalton has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season. As for Wayne City, their win bumped their record up to 2-6.
