Baseball Recap: Navajo Pine Takes a Loss

Navajo Pine extended their losing streak to six on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 2-20 in the process. They lost 21-1 to the Rehoboth Christian Lynx. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Warriors of the 17-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Navajo Pine saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Joshua Martinez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

As for Rehoboth Christian, their victory ended a seven-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-11. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by six runs or more this season.

On Rehoboth Christian's side, Josiah Becksvoort made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave Becksvoort a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. He has become a key player for Rehoboth Christian: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 5-11 otherwise.

In other batting news, Rehoboth Christian got a massive performance out of Kodah Chapman, who went 2-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI. Chapman is becoming a predictor of the Lynx's success: when he posts at least three RBI the team is undefeated (and 6-11 when he doesn't). Jude Christensen was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Rehoboth Christian beat Navajo Pine by a score of 18-8 later that day.
