Soccer Game Preview: Columbia vs. Mapleton

The Columbia Raiders will take on the Mapleton Mounties in a tournament on Wednesday. Columbia will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more goals each contest than the last.

Columbia's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Independence with a sharp 8-0 victory. Columbia might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matches by four goals or more this season.

They hit Independence with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Allison Boardman (4), Natalie Miller (2), Andrea McCall, and Khrystyna Tomaschuk.

Meanwhile, Mapleton can bid farewell to their three-match losing streak thanks to their match on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Oberlin, sneaking past 4-3.

Columbia's win bumped their record up to 13-4-1. As for Mapleton, they now have a winning record of 7-6-1.

Columbia skirted past Mapleton 2-1 when the teams last played back in September of 2019. Will the Raiders repeat their success, or do the Mounties have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
