Football Game Preview: Ingleside Mustangs vs. Cuero Gobblers

Ingleside is 0-4 against Cuero since October of 2015 but things could change on Friday. The Mustangs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Gobblers at 7:00 p.m. Ingleside has given up an average of 42.2 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Ingleside is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Sinton on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Mustangs were dealt a 63-7 defeat at the hands of the Pirates. The Mustangs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 56-0.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Cuero, who bounced back after a loss on the road on October 10th. They pulled ahead with a 56-55 photo finish over Sinton last Friday. Given the Gobblers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 128th, while the Pirates are ranked 270th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Ingleside better keep an eye on Jaxxon Marie. He was instrumental in Cuero's win, throwing for 322 yards and seven touchdowns, while also rushing for 100 yards and one TD. Those seven passing touchdowns gave Marie a new career-high. Walker Dietze was Marie's top target, picking up 108 receiving yards and one score.

Cuero pushed their record up to 7-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. As for Ingleside, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.
