Basketball Recap: Fowler Comes Up Short

Fowler played a tough match on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by the Crowley County Chargers 66-34. The Grizzlies haven't had much luck with the Chargers recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Isaiah Montoya and Hagen McCuistion certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Montoya posted 15 points and five rebounds, while McCuistion had five points and six boards. The dominant performance gave McCuistion a new career-high in rebounds.

Leading Crowley County to victory were Gunner Hughes and Anthoni Walter. Hughes went 10-for-18 on his way to 29 points along with seven boards and three steals, while Walter went 7-for-10 en route to 18 points and five rebounds. Majestic McNeil was another key player, putting up eight points and three steals.

Fowler's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 13-8. As for Crowley County, they pushed their record up to 18-2 with the win, which was their 18th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Fowler will square off against Swallows Charter Academy at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Swallows Charter Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.2 points per game this season. As for Crowley County, they have already played their next game, a 78-42 victory against Rye on the 25th.
