Baseball Recap: Princeton Has No Trouble Against Evansville Reitz

It was a proper cat-fight when Princeton took on Evansville Reitz on Saturday. The Tigers were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Panthers. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by six runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Ryne Wilhite, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last nine games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jarrett Kinder, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and four RBI.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Princeton lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

The win made it two in a row for Princeton and bumps their season record up to 8-2. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Evansville Reitz, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.

Looking ahead, Princeton will welcome Tell City at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Marksmen have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.2 runs per game on average), something the Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Evansville Reitz, they will head out on the road to square off against Mt. Vernon at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Panthers are facing the Wildcats at the right time seeing as the Wildcats are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
