Recap: Williamsville Bullets vs. North Mac Panthers

The Williamsville Bullets put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 54-41 victory over North Mac. Given Williamsville's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 90th, while North Mac is ranked 486th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Williamsville was led to victory by Brayden Saling and Blake Shoufler. Saling scored 21 points, while Shoufler scored 19 points along with six assists. That makes it three consecutive games in which Saling has scored at least 25% of Williamsville's points. Brecken Thomas was another key contributor, scoring four points along with five rebounds.

Williamsville's victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-0. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.3 points per game. As for North Mac, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8.

Williamsville won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs] at 8:30 p.m. on December 22nd. West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs] knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matches -- so hopefully Williamsville likes a good challenge. North Mac will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Greenville at 7:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
