Baseball Recap: West Orange Finds Home Field Redemption Against Lake Nona

There's no place like home for West Orange, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They won by a run and slipped past the Lake Nona Lions 4-3. This was payback for the Warriors, who suffered an 8-1 loss the last time these two teams met.

Braxton Stalvey and Sims McClusky dominated on the mound. Stalvey tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit, while McClusky pitched four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. What's more, McClusky also posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, West Orange's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Kas Ocasio, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

West Orange now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Lake Nona, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Orange will take on Windermere at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Lake Nona, they will face off against Boone at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lake Nona's pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so Boone's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
