Softball Game Preview: Valley View Eagles vs. Chino Cowboys

The Valley View Eagles will square off against the Chino Cowboys at 3:15 p.m. on Monday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Valley View's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They won by a run and slipped past Beaumont 1-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.

The result came thanks to Giselle Morales's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up seven Ks. Those seven strikeouts gave her a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Valley View saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alyssa Torres, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

Meanwhile, Chino hadn't done well against Don Lugo recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Chino sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-7 win over Don Lugo.

Valley View's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.6 runs on average over those games. As for Chino, their victory bumped their record up to 4-5.

Valley View beat Chino 7-4 in their previous matchup back in February of 2019. Does Valley View have another victory up their sleeve, or will Chino turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
