Baseball Recap: Holy Cross Comes Up Short

Holy Cross lost against Lloyd Memorial back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Indians fell just short of the Juggernauts by a score of 8-6. That's two games in a row now that the Indians have lost by exactly two runs.

Ethan Neal was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two triples, two runs, and two RBI. Holy Cross is 3-1 when Neal posts two or more runs, but 1-5 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Issenmann, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

This is the second loss in a row for Holy Cross and nudges their season record down to 4-6. Even worse, they were so close both times: the losses came by an average of only two runs. As for Lloyd Memorial, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Holy Cross will venture away from home to face off against Ryle at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Lloyd Memorial, they will head out to square off against Campbell County at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Camels' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so the Juggernauts' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
