Volleyball Recap: Appleton East Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Appleton East had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They came out on top against the Kaukauna Galloping Ghosts by a score of 3-1. This was a revenge game for the Patriots: when they faced off against the Galloping Ghosts back in September, they had to take a 3-1 defeat.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-21, 23-25, 25-19.

Kaukauna's loss came despite strong showings from Brenna Matthies and Ava Reader. Matthies had 12 digs and two aces, while Reader had 23 digs and two aces. With that strong performance, Reader is now averaging an impressive 10.1 digs per game. Kala Lahm also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

The win (which was Appleton East's third in a row) raised their record to 13-24. As for Kaukauna, their loss was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-24.

Appleton East has already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Kimberly on the 25th. Kaukauna does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
