Hondo lost to Cole  back in October of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Owls blew past the Cougars 49-21. The Owls pushed the score to  49-14 by the end of the third, a deficit the Cougars cut but never quite recovered from.
Hondo was led to victory by  Kolten Alvarez and  Andrew Tapia.  Alvarez threw for 122 yards and three  touchdowns, while  Tapia rushed for 136 yards and a pair of  TDs on only 13 carries. Those  136  rushing yards gave  Tapia a new career-high.
 Hondo's run defense was locked in: Cole could only muster 2.2 yards per carry. The team can thank  Anthony Knight for the heroic effort on defense: he. Hondo didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 9.1.
Hondo's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Cole,  they are  on  a  three-game losing streak  that has dropped them down to 2-4.
 We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Hondo will  challenge  rival Lytle  at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. That  game will pit two of the most dominant  signal callers against one another:  Alvarez and  Weston Jackson. Meanwhile, Cole is set to  face off against  their familiar foe Jourdanton  at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday.
