Nicholas County took a nine-run defeat the last time they faced off against Buffalo, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Grizzlies skirted past the Bison 6-5. That's two games straight that the Grizzlies have won by just one run.

Abby Hilleary was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Myah Scott, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Makenzie Hanshaw was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

The win made it two in a row for Nicholas County and bumps their season record up to 7-9. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of one runs across that stretch. As for Buffalo, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-5.

Nicholas County has already played their next game, an 8-6 loss against Greenbrier West on the 29th. As for Buffalo, they will challenge Calhoun at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
