Baseball Game Preview: Edison Eagles vs. St. Joseph Falcons

Edison and St. Joseph are an even 4-4 against one another since April of 2015, but likely not for long. The Eagles will square off against the Falcons at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.

It was a Battle of the Birds when Edison duked it out with St. Joseph on Monday. The Eagles never let the Falcons get on the board and left with a 5-0 victory. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Falcons recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Connor Murphy was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over seven innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Edison is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-9 otherwise. Murphy was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.

In other batting news, Ray Tavarez was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April.

St. Joseph is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Edison, their record now sits at 6-10.
