Baseball Recap: Penn Cambria Extends Winning Streak to Three

After losing to Bishop Guilfoyle the last time they met, Penn Cambria decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Panthers came out on top against the Marauders by a score of 8-4 on Saturday. The victory was familiar territory for the Panthers, who have now won three contests in a row.

Ayden Himmer made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Caden Gibbons and Preston Farabaugh did most of the damage at the plate: Gibbons went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Farabaugh got on base in all three of his plate appearances with four stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those four stolen bases gave Farabaugh a new career-high. Corbin Vinglish was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Penn Cambria's record now sits at 11-6. As for Bishop Guilfoyle, their loss dropped their record down to 4-12.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Penn Cambria will face off against Forest Hills at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Rangers will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last. As for Bishop Guilfoyle, they will take on Philipsburg-Osceola at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
