Baseball Game Preview: Monte Vista Mustangs vs. San Ramon Valley Wolves

For the second straight game, Monte Vista will face off against San Ramon Valley. The Mustangs will be playing at home against the Wolves at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.

Monte Vista is headed into the game having just suffered their biggest loss since April 2nd on Wednesday. They came up short against San Ramon Valley, falling 9-1. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

For San Ramon Valley's part, they got a great performance from Will Rau as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave Rau a new career-high.

At the plate, Mitch Nelson was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of TJ Adlman, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

San Ramon Valley pushed their record up to 12-10 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Monte Vista, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-18.
