Basketball Recap: West Jordan's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Eight

West Jordan had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23.9 points) and they went ahead and made it eight on Friday. They blew past the Kearns Cougars 64-27. With the Jaguars ahead 35-12 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Leading West Jordan to victory were Marlee Reupena and Giselle Muffett. Reupena dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 steals, while Muffett posted 18 points in addition to seven assists and five boards. Reupena is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 14 games she's played. Eva Penman also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: West Jordan was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January of 2024.

West Jordan pushed their record up to 12-7 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.0 points over those games. As for Kearns, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season.

Looking ahead, West Jordan will venture away from home to face off against Hunter at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in West Jordan's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last ten games. As for Kearns, they will be playing at home against Cyprus at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Kearns is facing Cyprus at the right time seeing as Cyprus is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
