Softball Preview: Hauser Jets vs. Milan Indians

Hauser is 4-0 against Milan since May of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Hauser Jets will be playing in front of their home fans against the Milan Indians at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Hauser is headed into the game fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Edinburgh with a sharp 14-3 victory on Wednesday. With that win, Hauser brought their scoring average up to 6.5 runs per game.

Paige Mcdaniel was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits (and not a single walk). Mcdaniel has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive pitching appearances. Mcdaniel was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a home run, three RBI, and two doubles.

In other batting news, Maley Jordan and Isabelle Brunner did most of the damage at the plate: Jordan scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while Brunner scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Haylin Campbell, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Milan had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs), and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Raiders an 11-0 shutout.

Like Hauser, Milan also got a great game from a two-way player: Kynadee Bode. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Bode was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emma Voss, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. Chloe Hunter was another key contributor, going 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI.

Hauser has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a massive bump to their 7-4 record this season. As for Milan, their victory bumped their record up to 12-9.

Thursday's matchup will be a test for both team's pitchers. Hauser hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .331. However, it's not like Milan struggles in that department as they've averaged .330. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Hauser skirted past Milan 10-9 when the teams last played back in May of 2023. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Milan's Karsyn Bode, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, a triple, and a double. Now that she won't be playing on Thursday, will it be that much easier for Hauser to walk away with another win? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
