Basketball Game Preview: Piggott Mohawks vs. Hoxie Mustangs

Piggott hasn't had much luck against Hoxie recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Piggott Mohawks will be playing in front of their home fans against the Hoxie Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. Piggott will be strutting in after a victory while Hoxie will be coming in after a loss.

Last Friday, everything came up roses for Piggott against Marmaduke as the squad secured a 57-21 win. That looming 57-21 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Mohawks yet this season.

Meanwhile, Hoxie was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 12th straight defeat. They were dealt a 64-7 loss at the hands of Harrisburg. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arkansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 267th, while the Hornets are ranked 125th).

The victory made it two in a row for Piggott and bumps their season record up to 9-10. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 23.0 points over those games. As for Hoxie, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-22.

Piggott took their win against Hoxie when the teams last played back in February of 2024 by a conclusive 61-40. Does Piggott have another victory up their sleeve, or will Hoxie turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
