Baseball Recap: Upperman Continues Road Dominance on Saturday

Upperman proved they can win big on Saturday (they won by ten) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Lawrence County Wildcats 3-2. The Bees haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Chris Wirsing made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Wirsing wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Justin Fallon, who went 2-for-4 with one double.

Upperman hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in 12 consecutive matches.

Upperman's victory was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 24-11. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Lawrence County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 20-17.

As of now, neither Upperman nor the Wildcats have any future games scheduled.
