Basketball Recap: Emporia Piles Up the Points Against Topeka

Emporia came into Friday's game having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They claimed a resounding 64-35 victory over the Topeka Trojans. The Spartans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 22 points or more this season.

Emporia was led to victory by Rylan Crowell and Kobe Franklin. Crowell dropped a double-double with 18 points and 11 boards, while Franklin went 7-for-8 to rack up 16 points. Thanks to that strong game, Franklin now owns an excellent 45.2% shooting accuracy. Another player making a difference was Madden Seidl, who posted eight points.

Emporia smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Emporia's win bumped their record up to 11-7. As for Topeka, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-17-1.

Emporia wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 66-65 victory against Manhattan on the 25th. As for Topeka, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 72-42 defeat against Washburn Rural on the 25th.
