Stevenson is 8-2 against Lake Zurich since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Patriots will look to defend their home field against the Bears at 4:45 p.m. Stevenson will be looking to extend their current 18-game winning streak.
Stevenson's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 17-0 margin over Zion-Benton. Considering the Patriots have won 14 games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
The team relied heavily on Aubrey Jepson, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and one double. Alyssa Shimanski was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Stevenson lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted in their last 12 contests.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Lake Zurich, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Warren Township on Monday, sneaking past 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Bears have posted since March 18th.
Alaina Krzeminski spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on five hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Kelly Selzer was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Koelper, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.
Stevenson pushed their record up to 25-3 with the victory, which was their ninth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for Lake Zurich, their victory bumped their record up to 14-16-1.
Stevenson took their win against Lake Zurich in their previous matchup back in April by a conclusive 11-1 score. Do the Patriots have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bears turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
