Volleyball Recap: Lee Vining Tigers vs. Owens Valley Cubs
Lee Vining was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They fell 3-1 to the Owens Valley Cubs. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cubs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.
Lee Vining started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 20-25, 25-20, 25-20, 25-20.
Ember Elits paced Lee Vining's offense, picking up three kills. Elits really made an impact as she also led the team in assists with five. Grace Gain controlled things from the service line, finishing with seven aces.
Owens Valley's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Avygnon Reilly-Todd, who had five aces. Those five aces gave Reilly-Todd a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Savanah Rice, who had six kills and four digs.
Lee Vining's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Owens Valley, their win bumped their record up to 4-5-1.
Lee Vining wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 defeat against Lone Pine on the 22nd. As for Owens Valley, they have also already played their next match, a 3-0 loss against Mojave on the 22nd.
